Learn who we are and why we teach martial arts!

Our Mission

Not bound or limited by outdated traditions and methods that are no longer effective, we believe in fostering the principles of respect and discipline, long considered cornerstones for the martial arts. In this manner our students can fulfill the purpose of our art, that being the development of every aspect of the "self". This will result in students who totally integrate their intellect, body, emotions and spirit. This integration helps to create a person who is free from inner conflict and who can deal with the outside world in a mature, intelligent, forthright and virtuous manner.

By blending philosophies from both the East and the West we can focus our mental and physical training to foster the American Way of Life. We are further dedicated to the development of our students' martial training and leadership skills. These skills will assist our members to be not only successful in protecting themselves and their loved ones, but will also provide a reservoir of strength. This reservoir will allow our students to be successful in all other aspects of their daily lives.

We do, however, believe that healthy competition can be beneficial. Members of our studio have won nearly three dozen National Championship Awards.

Our History

Our first North Texas school opened in Irving, Texas in April, 1991 as a part of a corporate health program for a major corporation in the metroplex. Not only was traditional Tang Soo Do taught in an ongoing class room environment, but the instructors also conducted regular Women's Self Defense seminars for the non-traditional students. These seminars (requested by the host corporation) were very successful.

Interested in also reaching out to children, the first all encompassing karate program was initiated at the Coppell Family YMCA in 1994. This program touched the lives of countless children, adults and entire families.  The YMCA program continued through 2001 when the karate studio (dojang) consolidated both the YMCA and corporate programs into a single studio.

A varied schedule of classes were begun utilizing a very attractive dance studio, The Coppell House of Dance. Classes continue at this location until our NEW, independent studio is completed.

Excellence is not about being the best ... rather, it is about being the best you can be.
